Paessler PRTG 23.2.83 is now available in the stable release channel! This version comes with an update for OpenSSL to version 1.1.1, an update for our reporter engine to Chromium version 89, a new Python distribution version (3.9.13), security improvements and an update for German and Spanish language files.

Announcing Paessler PRTG OPC UA Server

OPC UA has become the de facto standard in industrial environments. With its wide adoption, we’ve seen an increase in devices and systems that support it. This is why we included OPC UA sensors in Paessler PRTG monitoring software. And now we’ve gone a step further with OPC UA: Paessler PRTG OPC UA Server, the first product extension for PRTG. Connectivity, bandwidth, content filtering: monitoring school infrastructure

We generally don’t think about chartered schools in terms of IT. We think of them as places of learning, and if we imagine any processes, we probably picture the ones focused on organizing teaching staff or streamlining lesson schedules. However, digitalization has placed a lot of technical requirements on schools. One example is that schools must be connected to the internet to facilitate online testing; another is the fact that each student brings devices that have to connect to the school’s network. This digitalization brings about unique challenges for schools. What's next for Paessler PRTG in 2023

I hope everyone had a good start to 2023! As the first months lay behind us, there are a few things we want to follow up on.

Reducing MTTR and downtime in a manufacturing environment with PRTG and SIGNL4

IT and production are becoming increasingly interconnected. This creates more complexity – both in terms of infrastructure itself and the roles of teams. Monitoring is the first step in obtaining (and maintaining) an overview. However, accurate notification and alerting is also required for the various teams to be able to quickly respond to errors and interruptions in accordance with their respective (and often complex) roles and responsibilities. This is where a combination of Paessler PRTG monitoring software and alerting and notification functionality from SIGNL4 comes into play.  

The Multi-Platform Probe and the state of its development

Over a year has passed since we introduced the Multi-Platform Probe, which can be installed on Windows and Linux systems as well as on ARM-based devices and Docker. This allows you to extend the native monitoring functionality of PRTG to other platforms. It is even possible to run a PRTG probe on some NAS systems or a Raspberry PI. Depending on the use case, this opens up completely new and cost-effective ways to reach all parts of a network.
